Tak Tanabe is one of Canada’s foremost senior artists - best known as a landscape painter depicting the prairies and coastal regions of BC. He is also a stellar and adventurous print maker.

Takao Tanabe was born in Prince Rupert, BC on September 16, 1926. He studied at the Winnipeg School of Art and further studied in New York, London and in Japan. He has had a long and distinguished career as an artist since 1951 and his work can found in major collections in Canada, the United States and abroad.

He was awarded the Order of Canada for his contribution to Canadian culture and was the recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Visual Art in 2002. Tak Tanabe has been a patron to Artists For Kids since 1995. He currently lives in Parksville, BC.
