Sky Fan and Star Fish
The ten colour lithograph "Sky Fan and Star Fish" is very representative of Barry's imagery.
Her bold use of line, colour and contrast shows her connection to the land and sea near her
studio. It depicts the constant energy forces at work in nature. The large sky fan, protector
of the universe, waves with the motion of the sea and air and shields the Salmon from harm as it
passes through the landscape. Anne Meredith Barry is one of Newfoundland's most successful
contemporary artists. Primarily working in the Canadian landscape genre, she revels in exploring
the forces of naturein fresh and inventive ways. She has also enthusiastically lectured and taught
workshops for students in art colleges, public schools, art councils and universities across Canada
for fifteen years.
